Container

Container is the space within the website where IGAC develope an artistic production combining new artistic experiences in the interactive world of the new technologies: curating experiences, relations between the artist and the computer technicians, diffusion, administration, etc. Investigating new ways to understand contemporary art we will answer the latest interests brought by the new technologies in the artistic experience, so we start new contexts for creation and representation.

IGAC accepts one of the curatorial proposals they receive. This proposal will be the key to all productive process in the whole year. The proposal will be developed by all the members of IGAC: curator, IGAC team, technicians and artist.

The computer technicians are Jaume Teixi with his digitals vision and Manel Bayo more of designer as he is an artist himself.

The site. The place that makes the space look at landscape. The site and that we are. The place that makes us and on us.
The view on the landscape. The view that always takes something of what looked to be n'endú always somewhere to keep us in the well over time.

Of which are produced in our body, those who produce n'amaguem by involuntary. Rational, civilized as we are, hidden from the public the pets, the ROTS, noise when the casings are hungry or bored yawn when reported. We always view the outside of our mouth when it comes around a yawn or cough. The interior is a private space that is not taught but coded: singing or spoken.

This show is not meant to be exhaustive nor to anything at all. It simply tries to be evocative, thought-inducing: the viewer receives a certain visual impacts-the-MENINAS to make your particular reflection on the basis of proposals that are presented in this exhibition space: basically, a way of relating to other language, which is to say as much as a way to understand another life and living.

What makes Marc Fourquet is not only a "simple" act of recycling artists, but that is tracta a poetic gesture which has links with what, from the parents of our culture, has been classified as creation.

Omphalos / Tom Carr

Subversion of the plan and of the center, in search of the indetermination that it makes drive the thought towards new conceptions of the space possible. The Omphalos as a milestone, ties through the references to Delphos & Apolo in the Archaic Greece, the oracle word and the colonial displacement, in a tortuous movement, that taking the navel as a coordinate of the origin, it moves towards the periphery of the known world. Passat and future, center and periphery form an interwoven "moiré" that places línial of the time and of the space for us in a topography opposite to that of a conception. This perceptive complexity would not be possible without the existence of the emptiness that already described Democrit, for which the emptiness is one of the last and true elements of the existing one.

The latent empty one claims the desire for occupation. The one that is, what is perceived, what emanates and the licit and illicit associations construct a complexity that allows to sort corpses as if from a perfect it treated itself.

Without sound nor word, the image broken up of its origin sails meeting receptive subject.
Images of bodies that any more they are not, are shown the receiver with the explicit will of Jordi Abelló of freeing them from everything subordinating for showing them with a strange nakedness.

Banc de Crèdit / Francesc Vidal

Una obra de arte que carece de valor artÌstico, por progresista que sea en lo polÌtico, no tiene fuerza.

Not even Mao could accept the to concede the artistic function the simple communicative function, the fact that was capable of transporting an ideological message. The art as an idea implies a form captured by the reason, from the ideological limit, for the moment and the fashion, from the space-storms dimensions of the concrete moment. If the art is anything it implies the dimension that opens up when the significant capacity of the logos closes. The art sees emptying of anthropic consciousness from the kingdom of the sense and not of the meaning, for which it transports a black hole, loaded of non visible energy, in its|his|her|their kernel. Perfect emptiness that allows the one deceased of the meaning, the diaspora of the idea, the true meaning of the plurality. And this it is the fear of the iconoclasts that they portray Francesc Vidal i Alexandre Galera, a fear that faces not of the falsity of the symbolic image, but in the speeches that open up behind.

Netninots / Mim Juncà

The intimate conviction of which the concept "reality" is something that only exists in so far as evolution is pure is based on by the proposal of Juncà. NET NINOTS is, in this sense, a dam of consciousness: Juncà makes time that he has said goodbye on the subject his world is virtual how, as a matter of fact, any representation. The goal, as a last resort, is that we recognize in some cheerful beings that they tend to dissolving, to fade in microstories that we will not know where they start nor where they end...

Espai Recíproc / Àlex Nogué

With Reciprocal Space, Àlex Nogué draws a mental map from the information that a group of collaborators sends him, in a completely selfless way, during a period of time marked up. This mental map has appearance of constellation: each emotion and each character are a light that changes of intensity in the middle of a big black space similar to the universe.

No Destino Des / Quico Estivill

Drowning EVERY possibility of future is to deny that there is fate. NO DESTINO DES contains in the form of false prefix and suffix a double negation (from and not). A room without windows does not offer any kind of fate to his tenant, to not be, of course, that he decides to undertake a mental journey.

Adéu, matèria, adéu / Francesc Torres Monsó

The one that proposes this project him to bring to light how this fact is not fallen out with the possibility of arguing like Berkeley: being is to be perceived today more than ever, now that the visuality has character of pandemic and the world is postponed in the benefit of an increasing vitality. The look of an artist like Francesc Torres Monsó, formed in his origins in a classical discipline how he can illuminate the sculpture (completely tied to the subject and to the space) and his progressive adoption of a more conceptual language for us about this, points more if we take that for him it is the first incursion in the world of the clean art into account.

Midnight / Olia Lialina & Dragan Espenschied

The Google Maps navigation cross became one of the most recognizable elements in today's web. It appears in a huge number of mash-ups to provide a localization interface for all kinds of data: Where have this photos been taken, where are these houses for sale, where is the most crime happening in this city, were to find the next Burger King ...
But once a year at the stroke of midnight, ancestors of Rich User Experience are raising from their grave.

Omisa / Ricardo Trigo

It's evident that so Internet as another type of technologies they offer the possibility to connect the persons mentally, using these technological means we will achieve from the net to provoke physical repercussion. The means from the link between the virtual one and the physicist is an artifact controlled from a distance from Internet: OMISA.

Fada'íat / Daf Ta'ia

This work is presented in a synthetic-plastic format yet to be used in the previous project "Fada'iat presentation http://fadaiat.net. Fada'iat experiments the construction of a communicational, spatial and poetic/mythic heterotopy. This project has place at the cruel and uncomfortable border between Europe and Africa.

Life in Progress / Manel Bayo

Manel Bayo submissions himself to the wishes of the net visitors during 30 days. From june 15 2005, everyone can give instructions to the artist. Instructions he promises that will follow at all.

De LTM Machina / Oscar Abril

De LTM Machina (About the LT Machine) is an hipertext about the funcionamiento del proyecto de música de acción Low-Tech Music (Música de Baja Tecnología) del artista sonoro Oscar Abril Ascaso.
Partiendo de ese nivel, De LTM Machina (Sobre La Máquina LTM) acoje un sitio colaborativo a través del cual configurar una crónica sobre el contexto histórico de LTM (Low-Tech Music) : la escena de la performance española desde 1994 hasta 1999.

Homobilis / Guillermo Trujillano

For this project, Trujillano has asked a few artists to collaborate sending him a draw or a mobile song. Anyone is able to download them for the mobile. But there is a surprise? Maybe Trujillano wants to tell us something more? maybe it`s more than a banalize gesture of art.

Construir con palabras / Eugenio Tisselli

"Building for words" is the most important of the three presented by Tisselli in Container 2004. The work is a proposal of self generated art, searching further from the stereotypical, further than the algorithm capable to generate infinite images or caleidoscopical sentences different on their form but conceptually the same. "Building for words" uses the most powerfull wrinting in contemporary world: the computer program. "Building for words" uses the most powerful allegory in contemporary world: the city.

La casa del performer / Lluís Alabern

Lluís Alabern invites us to a house (his house) to play with the spaces and the life esperiences (his life experiences) to interact with people (his family). The performer's house is an intimate dialogue with strangers on a set closer to the performer than to the cinema. The aim of this project is the capacity of the artist to show himself to the public, to the unknown public that access his intimacy through internet.

Pornografíes / Manel Bayo, produit per La Plataforma

This Visual game proposes the user to explore an interactive space through web pornographic images.

DTM / Jordi Mitjà

DTM is a hypothetical "nomade" market where you can find the artistic works of Jordi Mitjà. This digital Top Manta, with instructions of how to use it, needs the user to scroll through it. The work far away from being a lazy mechanism of knowlegde, as Eco would say, provoques an effort and a sense of cooperation to the virtual traveller/reader to be able to complete the game.

Com.flors / igac

Com.flors is an interactive game, constructed by drawings of 200 children from different schools in Girona. The work was produced by La Plataforma within the Flower festival in Girona 2003.

No llocs / Pep Canaleta, Elena Genís, Narcís Gironell, Clara Oliveras, Anna Pigem i Esteve Subirah

New Technologies and computers has brought new waiting places and forms: temporary and phically, watches, circles and icons in general?indicating "you have to wait to get what you want". Six artists have analize the visualization of this "new" waitings and how to interfere them. Pep Canaleta, Elena Genis, Narcís Gironell, Clara Oliveres, Anna Pigem, Esteve Subirah and two technicians Jaume Teixi and Manel Bayo propose other ways to fight this computerized wait. The result is a program (suitable for mac and PC) that activates it self when waiting for the computer to finish a task.

Phenomena / Carles Congost

Even though is a project to be displayed in Internet, what Carles Congost does in Phenomena is evidentiate the lack and characteristics of it. IN a world where there is no integrated or art, but a compilation of information with no order or boundaries, the comprehension and fascination for the aesthetics as a generalized mixture creates another kind of device generating a lexic of infinite shapes.

malaiam / Marcel Dalmau i Job Ramos

The plots, voices and deductive reasons desapear giving way to signs that are not signs anymore in their one transformation. Marcel Dalmau and Job Ramos net art work, malaialam, lives on this constant change. In one hand the net resources allows us to reinterpretate (what they would call net metaphors); if in the visual proposal you add those relocatable rubbish textual contents we as users can navigate through multiple possibilities, contexts and meanings just on pressing the Enter key. This are the places the authors wants to takes us, where only modifying the context the irony of art have an effect to the transformated/ moved sense.

Coses i colors / Jordi Puig

Jordi Puig generates images from the two existences: real and virtual. This ends up in a vision of non place or name, a vision of a high photographic skills, with no traps but the visual conflict between what we see and what we believe, also from the pictorial element by his way of using colour and the poetical way to manipulate emotions on a non rules game.
